Pristine beaches and picturesque hikes aren’t the only reasons to visit Malibu this summer. From gourmet food & wine festivals to curated art showcases, below are some of our favorite local happenings sure to add some culture to your stay. Enjoy!
Sundays: 10-3 p.m.
Sundays in Malibu aren’t complete without a visit to the farmer’s market. Hosted by the Cornucopia Foundation, the Malibu Farmer’s Market is one of LA’s finest—showcasing local farmers, popular food trucks, and a wide variety of deliciously fresh produce. From fresh Oxnard strawberries to local arugula to Santa Barbara sea urchin uni, you won’t get a better taste of Southern California than this.
2nd and 4th Sunday of every month from 7-9 a.m.
Calling all automobile aficionados, the bi-weekly Malibu Cars & Coffee event allows visitors to get up close and personal with collectors’ models both old and new—all while sipping on enticing blends of coffee. With a bit of luck you’ll come on a day when event regulars Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno show off their favorite wheels, from the 1966 Yenko Stinger to a 2015 918 Porsche Spyder.
April 28- May 1
Good tunes and great times await at the Malibu Guitar Festival. In addition to jam sessions and featured school programs, festivalgoers can catch exclusive performances by the likes of Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Albert Lee, Robert Randolph, and many more. Plus, it’s all part of a great cause: all festival events benefit Mending Kinds, Malibu Youth, and Therasurf.
June 1-9
A red carpet affair in every sense of the phrase, LA’s world-renowned film festival gives visitors an exclusive look at this year’s hottest movie productions, from creative indies to mainstream hits. Be among thousands of cinema admirers—and countless celebrities—as Hollywood descends on downtown LA, offering hundreds of movie screenings as well as coffee talks, master classes, and Diversity Speaks.

The Malibu Arts Festival is back for its 45th year with a fleet of over 200 award-winning artists, including Malibu’s own nature photographer Nick Rodionoff. From paintings to jewelry to carvings, don’t be surprised if you fall for a new piece to display in your home.
September 16-18
Known as one of the nation’s most iconic annual triathlons, the Nautica Malibu Triathlon attracts thousands of competitors to the shores of Zuma Beach. Whether watching or participating, it’s an inspiring way to take in the one-of-a-kind scenery along Malibu’s coastline.
Oct 14-17
A staple of Malibu’s yearly calendar, the Calabasas Malibu Food & Wine Festival serves up a world-class array of cuisine, wine, spirits, and beer—much of which is sourced locally.
